iOS 6 beta tethered jailbreak available

Two days ago the iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd had successfully jailbroken the iOS 6 beta 1 firmware.

However, it was only a start, as Cydia and many other aspects of the jailbreak did not work. He seems to have decided to let developers have some fun with thejailbreak as well. The iPhone dev team just released a new RedSn0w version (RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1), only for the developers, to tethered jailbreak iOS 6 beta 1.

RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1 provides a tethered jailbreak for developers on iOS 6 beta 1 and is strictly only for the devs. Why? Well, the jailbreak is a beta and Cydia doesn’t function. Only SSH function is available, which app developers can use to get root access to the iOS device. Currently, the tetheredjailbreak only supports A4 devices and doesn’t use any new exploit. If you’re a developer and want to jailbreak your iOS device on iOS 6 beta 1, then you should give the latest RedSn0w a try.

RedSn0w 0.9.13dev1 Jailbreak Supported Devices:

  • iPhone 4 (CDMA)
  • iPhone 4 (GSM)
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPod Touch 4G

If you’re not a developer, it’s best you stay far away from this jailbreak. This version of RedSn0wwill not hacktivate your device, thus only a developer with a registered UDID can activate. You will need to point RedSn0w to the iOS 6 beta 1 firmware before you begin the jailbreak, as the tool can’t fetch the firmware. Since this a tethered jailbreak, you will need to use Just Boot Tethered every time you want to reboot your device.
