iOS 5.1 jailbreak could take a while

A jailbreak update:

The famous iOS hacker, pod2g, who brought us the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak exploit has updated the status on iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak. Recently, we told you that he had tweeted some updates on the iOS 5.1 jailbreak stating that he had bypassed ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization). That was an important stage in the process of getting the untethered jailbreak ready, but it’s nowhere close to being completed.

Pod2g tweeted earlier today, stating that the iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak is not going to be out for at least a month, as there’s still a lot of work to do. There are a lot of issues that still need to be solved, and thus he can’t be sure of any ETA. It could be a month from now, maybe even two or maybe never.

ETA for 5.1 JB : no clue! We’re going to set pieces of the puzzle together this week. We could have issues… Could be 1 month maybe 2… Maybe never… (!)

I know 1 month seems long, but it’s short to work on a project like this when it’s a hobby and you’ve other things to do as well.

Therefore, we can not be sure if there will be an iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak coming anytime soon. All we can do is hope for the best and give our support to the hackers working on the jailbreak. Currently, if you’re on iOS 5.1, then you’ll have to make do with the tethered jailbreak or the semi-untethered one (A4 devices only). We’ll let you know if anything more arises on this topic.
